I believe in teaching musicianship through an instrument, including aural and theory training as part of routine music lessons for whichever instrument (singing or piano). The CT ABRSM (Certificate of Teaching of Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music) qualification which I gained in 2007 promoted this approach.
I won a Scholarship as a pianist as a Junior Exhibitioner at Royal Academy of Music when I was 12 and continued my studies there with joint first study singing and piano accompaniment at age 18.
I won a Gold Medal for my Grade VI Singing in 1978 being awarded the highest marks for Associated Board exam in that session in the country: Distinction – 145/150.
My greatest affinity is with 7 – 21 and 50+ age group. However, I am comfortable teaching students of any age.
