I work on a freelance basis with Independent Arts offering musical experiences for those in the 50+ age group, both in the Community and in Care Homes.
SingAbout Workshops are held over the Island and I work in East Cowes where we hold a weekly session at St James’ Church Hall, Church Path from 2pm – 4pm. No previous singing experience is required. We meet to sing for fun and have tea and biscuits and some social time together.
Entertaining in Care Homes can be very rewarding where I play the piano or keyboard and sing. It’s marvellous to see a resident tapping along to a familiar 1930’s musical song or even just mouthing previously forgotten words where they are transported back to their youth or earlier adult life. Bookings can be made via Independent Arts.
I am a Practitioner trained in offering Singing for Breathing workshops which were developed at Royal Brompton Hospital to assist those with diagnosed respiratory conditions in improving their lung health through targeted singing therapy. There are 200 groups throughout the UK and Independent Arts is supported by Respiratory Department at St. Mary’s Hospital. I work supporting Sandy Kealty from Independent Arts in delivering workshops on Fridays at Riverside Centre, Newport from 2pm – 4pm.
